Nevada is probably one of the most overlooked states in the country. Out-of-staters know us because of Las Vegas, but know nothing about the rest of the state. Well, that’s just fine by us. We know Nevada is one of the best places to live in the nation and we’re fine with keeping that a secret! Here in Nevada, we are used to a way of living that nobody else in the country can claim. Here are 10 Nevada privileges that we absolutely love and are unique to us.
Did you know that Nevada is home to more than 600 ghost towns? That's way more than the amount of inhabited cities in our state. This means our state is a paradise for ghost town enthusiasts and those who love exploring abandoned places. They are scattered all over the state, so no matter where you live there is always a ghost town waiting to be visited.
On top of boasting a massive amount of ghost towns, we are also home to more than 300 hot springs. That's more than anywhere else in the country. Canyon hot springs, desert hot springs, mountain hot springs...you name it and we've got it. A once-in-a-lifetime soak is just a quick drive away.

Who doesn't love sunshine? Luckily for us, sunny days are a common occurrence. In fact, Las Vegas sees an average of 294 sunny days a year. That's a lot of sunshine!

In contrast, Nevada is also home to some of the darkest skies in the country (Las Vegas and Reno excluded). Stargazing is pretty spectacular here in the Silver State due to an amazingly low level of light pollution. Night skies as pure as ours is a pretty rare occurrence throughout the country so we count ourselves lucky to have them here.
Our state parks are some of the oldest and most unique in the country. Parks like Valley of Fire and Cathedral Gorge boast some of the most breathtaking landscapes you've ever seen. The best part? Non-Nevadans seem to have no clue that they exist.
