Here in Nevada, October 31st has a bigger meaning for most people. It’s not just Halloween, it’s also the day that Nevada was officially granted its statehood. To celebrate this momentous day in Silver State history, the state’s capital city puts on a gigantic celebration during the last weekend of October. Thousands upon thousands of Nevadans make their way to Carson City to celebrate with fellow neighbors and friends, and it’s an absolute hoot. Featuring a gigantic parade, live entertainment, and plenty of state pride, you’ll want to make it your goal to check out this year’s big Nevada Day Celebration.
One of the most important days of the year is coming up and you'll want to be sure to celebrate it the right way. The official Nevada Day celebration takes place in Carson City and it is a must for every Nevadan.
Every year in the last weekend of October, Carson City throws a massive party celebrating our statehood. This year, the celebration will take place on October 26, 2019, so be sure to mark those calendars.
Thousands of people turn out for the Nevada Day parade and following festivities. The parade has drawn crowds of up to 35,000 people before, which just goes to show the immeasurable pride that Nevadans have for the Silver State.
This year, it was announced that the celebration's theme will be "Nevada Counties - 100 years" and it will specifically celebrate when Pershing County became the state's final county in 1919. The theme is also a tribute to all of Nevada's 17 counties and how they all come together to represent one single state.
Believe it or not, Carson City has thrown a parade on or near Nevada's "birthday" since 1938. Our state has changed and grown a lot since then, but our state pride is something that has never wavered. If anything, Nevada Day has just gotten bigger and better!
The parade will take place in downtown Carson City on Main Street. Watch as the array of unique floats and marching bands make their way through the heart of the city. It's easy to think of it like a massive birthday block party!
The parade is pretty awesome, but Nevada Day is about so much more than that. It's about celebrating the wonderful communities that call the Silver State home, and it's a fantastic way to celebrate our state's past, present, and future. Don't miss out and be sure to attend this epic event!
