Gardens In Nevada
Where are some interesting gardens in Nevada?
You might not think the mostly desert state of Nevada would have many gardens, but these interesting gardens in Nevada might surprise you:
- Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden, Henderson, NV: The Ethel M Chocolate Factory is home to this interesting cactus and succulent garden. You can wander the three-acre grounds before enjoying a few chocolate samples on your factory tour. With over 350 species of succulents and cacti from the US, Australia, and South America, you'll be able to learn all about these cool desert plants. It isn't just prickly pokies either, many of them flower with brilliant bursts of color.
- Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden, Reno, NV: One of our favorite gardens in Nevada is in the Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. Twenty-three acres of admission-free botanical bliss with lots of walking trails to explore and over 4,000 plant species. You might think it is pretty difficult to maintain such a lush garden in the Nevada desert, and it is, but the effort pays off when you need a quiet place in the shade or by a cool stream to relax.
- Municipal Rose Garden, Reno, NV: Another Reno favorite is this beautiful rose garden in Idlewild Park. With 200 varieties of roses and around 1,750 plants, full bloom can get pretty spectacular. It was created in 1958 by the official Reno horticulturalist, Fred Gallaway. It has been certified as a National Rose Garden by the American Rose Society - a distinction that only around 60 gardens in the US can claim.
