Nevada isn’t exactly a state known for gigantic, over-the-top waterfalls. However, we are home to quite a few smaller waterfalls; you just have to go out and find them. The next time you find yourself craving an adventure that ends with a glorious waterfall, be sure to check out this spectacular little hike in Red Rock Canyon. Not only does this trail lead you through the unbelievable beauty that the canyon contains, but it also rewards you with the sight of a seasonal waterfall at the very end. In short, this waterfall hike is a must for any nature-loving Nevadan, so be sure to check it out!
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is home to a plethora of glorious hiking trails, but one that you should definitely pay attention to is the Lost Creek Falls Trail. After all, this short and pleasant trail leads you straight to the most wonderful seasonal waterfall.
This short hike is less than a mile round trip. However, you'll find an incredible amount of scenic beauty on this trail, despite its short length.
You'll find the Lost Creek Trailhead located along Willow Spring Road inside Red Rock Canyon NCA. From the trailhead, you'll make your way through the Red Rock Wash, which is surrounded by the most gorgeous desert vegetation. There's definitely a reason this canyon is considered one of Nevada's most iconic landscapes!
As you continue, the trail will lead you up a stone staircase and towards the vegetated hillside. The trail is incredibly easy to traverse, no matter how skilled of a hiker you are. At one point it even takes you up onto a well-maintained boardwalk.
It isn't long before you come to the trail's end inside of a box canyon and at the foot of an amazing little waterfall. A sight like this is one of the last things you'd expect to see in the desert, and it's absolutely gorgeous.
If you time it just right, you can witness the falls when it's flowing at full force. Otherwise, the waterfall can dwindle to just a trickle of water. However, it's a spectacular sight to see, no matter when you end up seeing it.
When you're ready to go back, simply follow your own footprints back to the trailhead. This hike may be short and sweet, but it's definitely worth tackling when you're craving an adventure. Check out a trail map of the Lost Creek Trail here .
