The Great Italian Festival is definitely a favorite among locals and travelers alike. Every year, thousands come out to participate in the lively festivities. The festival is like one giant block party, and it's an event you definitely don't want to miss.
This year the festival will take place on October 12 and 13, 2019. Over the course of its two days, visitors can check out the Italian farmers market, various food booths, and witness live entertainment all day long.
Some of the festival's most notable events include the Wine Walk, Grape Stomp, and Gelato Eating Contest. However, the highlight of the entire weekend is all of the glorious food that's just begging to be devoured. From fried calamari to spaghetti and meatballs, all of your favorite Italian dishes will be available to munch on.
Of course, the festival's main event is the Great Italian Festival Sauce Cook-Off. For the cook-off, Italian families from all over the West come together to prepare their time-honored recipes right in the streets of downtown Reno. You'll taste many sauces, but only one can win the People's Choice award.
As for entertainment, plan for a lively schedule of events for each day of the festival. There will be two stages, one on 4th & Virginia and the other on 3rd & Virginia, which will host a variety of music and entertainment acts.
