The Elko County Fair is a popular annual event that's put on by a group of hard-working competitors, volunteers, and businesses. Taking place at the historic 40-acre Elko County Fairgrounds, the event is known to draw roughly 20,000 Nevadans from all over the state.
The very first Elko County Fair was held in September 1920 with the goal of promoting agriculture and the local economy. At its core, the fair remains an agricultural celebration, with the addition of many modern activities and entertainment that offers fun for the whole family.
This year's fair will take place August 27-29 and September 2-6, 2021. Each day of the fair offers something new and exciting, whether it be the ever-popular horse racing event, barrel racing, working cow horse events, or musical entertainment. You can see the full schedule of events here .
From crafts to critters, to live music and fair food, there's always a good time to be had at the Elko County Fair. Admission is $8 per day for adults, $1 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children ages 2 and under. A pass for all of the days is just $45 per person.
Got something to show off? Consider becoming an exhibitor. There are dozens of contests that take place during the fair like the Home Arts Exhibits, Livestock Show and Sale, and the Cowboy Color Chase. There are also a bunch of family-friendly competitions like the Corn Hole Tournament or the T-Rex Race that are ideal for kids and adults alike.
