Businesses including restaurants, shops, casinos, and movie theaters have been closed for months across the country, but it looks like things are starting to (slowly) open up again. Although regular movie theaters are still a no-go, two drive-in movie theaters across Nevada have started to show movies for the first time since the initial shutdown. If you’ve been itching to get out and see a movie with family, this is your chance. Just be aware of the new guidelines that are being put in place at these establishments to keep everybody safe and healthy.
About a month ago, the West Wind Drive-In movie theater in Las Vegas reopened after closing down for social distancing...only to close one day later. However, it looks like both West Wind drive-in theaters in Nevada are now fully open to the public.
West Wind Drive-In has two locations in Nevada; one in Las Vegas and the other in Reno. Both are now up and running with nightly showtimes to check out. However, you'll want to be sure to read up on the new guidelines that have been implemented for all drive-in guests.
In order to comply with social distancing standards, all patrons of West Wind Drive-In must follow four new rules that will help guests maintain their distance from each other. Guests who don't follow the rules will be asked to leave.
First off, all guests must stay in their cars at all times, except to use the restroom. If for any reason you have to leave your car, you must wear a face covering of some sort. Additionally, you may not park your vehicle within 10-feet of another vehicle.
The snack bar at both locations will be closed, so plan on bringing your own popcorn and soda for the time being. The restrooms will remain open but only a certain number of guests will be able to use it at a time.
Other than these select changes, it will be just like old times at the drive-in theater. Check out what's playing now on their website. General admission is $7.75 for adults and $1.75 for kids ages 5-11 (kids 4 and under are always free.)
It may not be the completely normal drive-in experience that we're used to, but the idea of going to see a movie with family is just too exciting to pass up!
