The festival, known as Chinese New Year in the Desert, is now in its ninth year and it's not to be missed. Over the years, CNY in the Desert has exploded with growth. In fact, the event had to change venues this year to accommodate the expanded program and growth in attendance.
This year, CNY in the Desert will take place on January 25 and 26 at several participating venues, including the Grand Canal Shoppes, The Arts District in Downtown Las Vegas, and Las Vegas City Hall.
There are all sorts of exciting events planned for this year's festival, but the entire thing will kick off with a Recognition of Chinese New Year and Lions Blessing and Dance at City Hall on Wednesday, January 15.
For the official start of the festival on Saturday, guests will watch in awe as the Annual Las Vegas Spring Festival Parade commences down the streets. There will also be an assortment of cultural performances to watch later in the day, including martial arts demonstrations, acrobatics, folk dancing, and the traditional dragon dance.
The festival will end on Sunday with a traditional 8-course family style dinner at the famous Ping Pang Pong restaurant, located inside the Gold Coast Hotel. Be sure to bring your appetite!
Additionally, there will be several food trucks and vendors located on-site, so make a day of it and head to Las Vegas for the largest Chinese New Year celebration in the state. Most of the events are free to attend. Learn more about CNY in the Desert at their official website here.
