This awesome little shop was opened by Dorinda Vance, the Chief Chocolatier. She says it all started with the Chocolate, Wine, and Rose Festival back in 2011. She took 400 of her tastiest chocolates and ended up beating some of the best local and national competitors.
Today, you can visit one of her two Reno locations (an additional shop is located in Olympic Valley, California). Here you can get a taste of some of the chocolates that have made Dorinda's a household name in the region.
First of all, Dorinda buys all her chocolate from a French manufacturer called Valrhona. Valrhona is known for having some of the best chocolate in the world and you can taste it right here in Reno. Admittedly, it can be pricey, but it's so worth it.
Once you taste one of Dorinda's many specialty chocolates, you'll understand why she's known as one of the best chocolatiers. Additionally, Dorinda uses organic raw unfiltered honey in place of high-fructose corn syrup. This gives a natural and fresh flavor to her candies.
Not sure what to try first? The sea salt caramels are the main crowdpleaser. However, the lemon truffles are not to be missed. They're made with real lemon zest and real lemon juice.
