Oktoberfest comes just once a year, but there’s at least one spot in Nevada where you’ll find year-round German-inspired delicacies. Von Bismarck is a German restaurant and beer garden that’s bringing the flavors of Europe right here to the Silver State. From its spacious outdoor patio to its authentic cuisine, there’s definitely a lot to love about this lively dining spot. Stop on by and enjoy a taste of Germany – you’ll be hooked from the first bite of schnitzel!
Located in Reno on Wells Ave, Von Bismarck is a family-style restaurant and beer garden that draws inspiration from eastern and northern Europe. Featuring authentic cuisine and beverages, it's like a little slice of Germany here in Nevada.
The restaurant opened in Summer 2019 and has since become many people's go-to spot for a sausage and a beer. The unique eatery is named after Otto von Bismarck, the Prince of Bismarck and the first chancellor of the German empire. He famously loved to eat.
Although the restaurant pulls inspiration from several regions of Europe, there's a specific focus on Germany. On the menu, you'll find several iconic German dishes including giant pretzels, schnitzel, spaetzle, and currywurst.
Each dish is made with the German tradition in mind but with a uniquely modern twist. The bratwurst is especially popular and it comes served with German red cabbage ("rotkohl") and sour apple.
Of course, no meal at Von Bismarck is complete without a big mug o' beer to go with it. Both the beer and wine menu at the restaurant are extensive and feature German selections that are typically underrepresented in Reno's dining scene.
The restaurant itself boasts an atmosphere that blends old-world comforts with modern elegance. However, the beer garden is what truly shines, complete with open-air views, decorative lights, and completely relaxed vibe.
You don't have to wait for Oktoberfest every year to enjoy authentic European cuisine. Just pay a visit to Von Bismarck where the beer is always pouring and the food is always hot. Prost!
