Hiding away in the majestic Red Rock Canyon is the Red Spring Boardwalk Trail (also referred to as Calico Basin Walking Path). It's a super easy half mile hike that takes you through some breathtaking areas of the canyon.
This enchanting boardwalk trail has a little bit of everything. The area is bountiful with intense scenery and fascinating history in the form of petroglyphs. The trail itself leads to the spring which Red Spring is named for.
The trail is nice and flat, with just a slight gradient. Anybody can enjoy the beauty that this trail offers, including people with strollers or wheelchairs.
The trail comes complete with panels containing information about the region. Since water can actually be found in this part of the canyon, you'll find a unique set of wildlife and plant species that thrive in the area. You might just stumble across some jackrabbits, chipmunks, hawks, bluebirds, and more.
The trail itself is short and doesn't take very long to complete. It's perfect if you're short on time but want to look around the canyon for a bit. If you want to stretch your time here, you can always do some exploring of the surrounding beauty.
The trail gives you access to some of the most stunning sandstone formations you've ever seen. Seeing these rocks up close is a must. Photos just don't do the area justice.

The Red Spring Picnic Area comes complete with shades pavilions, barbecue grills, and picnic tables. It's the perfect spot to have a picnic and spend the day hiking around the area. This trail is a must-visit.
