Spring will be here before you know it, and on the top of your spring to-do list should be attending the annual Winnemucca Hot Air Balloon Festival. This year, the festival will take place the weekend of May 15-17, 2020, so mark your calendar.
Put on with the help of Winnemucca Balloons LLC, this event seeks to bring the joys of hot air ballooning to the quaint community of Winnemucca. General admission is free to the festival, but they do accept donations of canned food items for the Food Bank.
Held at the Winnemucca Sports Complex, the festival is the definition of small yet mighty. The festival hosts the launches of 10 different hot air balloons, which typically takes place shortly after sunrise—weather permitting, of course.
On the morning of the balloon launchings, spectators can kick back and enjoy the sight of the numerous hot air balloons soaring across the clear sky. It definitely makes for a memorable start to the morning, and it's a sight that you can't help but love.
In past years, a glow show has even been held on the Friday night of the festival. This evening event allows visitors to see the hot air balloons in a whole new light and even get an opportunity to walk up close and meet the pilots.
