Since 1989, Lion Habitat Ranch has cared for exotic animals, and in December 2012, the ranch was opened to the general public.
Lion Habitat Ranch is the home of the lions that were previously at MGM Lion Habitat. If you visit Lion Habitat Ranch, you'll have the rare opportunity to feed a giraffe and a lion. This wonderful ranch also offers tours. Keep in mind that many of these activities have a fee attached to them, but the experience(s) you'll have will DEFINITELY be worth it! 2. Sierra Safari Zoo - Reno, NV
Though small, Sierra Safari Zoo is the largest zoo in Nevada, with over 200 animals such as sloths, leopards, camels, zebras, etc. Six different types of monkeys and eight different types of wild cats are also at this zoo. Sierra Safari Zoo operates daily with the help of many generous volunteers. Sierra Safari Zoo is located at 10200 North Virginia St, Reno, NV 89506. 3. Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas, NV
At this wonderful wildlife habitat, visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with pink flamingos, exotic ducks, swans, koi fish, turtles, etc. Because of the abundance of trees, waterfalls and streams featured at this habitat, you'll feel like you're in paradise and will never want to leave. Founded in 2000, Safe Haven Rescue Zoo provides rehabilitative services and permanent placement for wildlife in need. In addition to providing a wonderful zoo to the general public, Safe Haven Rescue Zoo also conducts tours and offers on-site and off-site educational programs by appointment only. Safe Haven Rescue Zoo is located at 9605 State Route 400, Imlay, NV 89418. Hours: Open every day during daylight hours.
5. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary - Las Vegas, NV
Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary was established in 1970 and offers a safe haven for animals of all different types. At Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, you'll find hundreds of birds ranging from household parakeets to exotic parrots. Other animals at this sanctuary include pigs, turtles, rabbits, miniature horses, etc. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is located at 8103 Racel St, Las Vegas, NV 89131. Hours: Thurs-Mon 9:00am-4:00pm
6. Roos-N-More Zoo - Moapa Town, NV
Roos-N-More Zoo is a privately owned non-profit zoo operated by veterinarians Dr. Valerie and Jay Holt and their family. Its focus is a hands-on experience with a variety of exotic animals, which include kangaroos, otters, lemurs, etc. Kids absolutely LOVE this zoo! Roos-N-More Zoo is located at 746 Snowden Ranch Rd, Moapa Town, NV 89025. This unique zoo is only open for private tours and off-site events or parties.
7. Animal Ark - Reno, NV
Animal Ark provides permanent care to animals that can't be released back into the wild such as cheetahs, wolves, bears, birds, etc. At Animal Ark, visitors will thoroughly enjoy getting to watch animal feedings. 8. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino - Las Vegas, NV
The Shark Reef Aquarium is a public aquarium located at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The main tank is 1.3 million gallons - one of the largest in North America. In addition to the main tank, the Touch Pool is also a popular attraction. Visitors will have the opportunity to touch a collection of sharks, rays or horseshoe crabs.
