What are some things to do in Nevada in winter?
Nevada may be known for its hot dry summers, but its winters can be filled with snowy activities if you know where to look. Here are a few fun things to do in Nevada in winter:
Go ice skating at the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, NV: If you are looking for something a little more family-friendly on the Las Vegas Strip head to the Cosmopolitan for an evening of ice skating surrounded by the lights of the city. It might be hard to believe you are in the middle of the desert when you gracefully glide across this beautiful ice rink near the Bellagio Hotel. It makes for a wonderfully romantic evening with someone special as well.
Go on a snow tubing adventure near Lake Tahoe: One of the best places to go sledding in Nevada is on the epic tubing runs you'll find. One of our favorites is at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course on the California side of Tahoe. There is also one at the Glen Nugget on the Nevada side.
Fire and Ice Winter Festival, Ely, NV: There is no better way to warm up in the winter than at Nevada's Fire and Ice Festival. It is a three-day event that happens toward the end of January. Enjoy masterfully created snow and ice sculptures, participate in cross-country skiing, fat bike, and snowshoeing events, or simply watch with a hot cup of cocoa. It is a free event, so bundle up and celebrate winter in Nevada.
