Nevada has some stunningly beautiful landscapes. Often people who aren’t familiar with the state assume it’s one big desert because of Las Vegas, but Nevada has many types of terrain and scenery. And snow can be found in great abundance, even in areas you wouldn’t think! Nevada comes from the Spanish word for “snowy” and after looking at some of these landscapes below, you’ll feel like you could be sitting in the North Pole, waiting for Santa to pass by on his sleigh.
1. Diamond Peak in Lake Tahoe is a ski resort with some incredible views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
2. Great Basin National Park is the home of many bristlecone pine trees, which live for thousands of years. A covering of snow gives them an extra touch of beauty.
3. Stateline literally sits on the state line between California and Nevada. In the winter the white snow makes a stunning contrast with the aqua blue waters of Lake Tahoe.
7. Douglas County is located in the northwestern part of Nevada and contains parts of the Sierra Nevadas and Lake Tahoe. You would think you were in the North Pole walking toward Santa's workshop in this photo though!
11. Mount Rose rises above Reno. With a covering of snow and ice, it forms a picture that looks like a North Pole mountain above the twinkling lights of elven workshops below.
