I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.

What are some of the best getaways in Nevada?
Forget Las Vegas for a moment – let's think of the rest of Nevada. Believe it or not, there are an amazing number of fun things to do around the Silver State, including some one-of-a-kind getaways. Some of the downright best getaways in Nevada are places like:
Red Rock Canyon – This unique geological spot demonstrates the wonder of Nevada perfectly with its red rocks and gorgeous sunsets.
The Hoover Dam – Believe it or not, this old dam is WAY more impressive than you think it’ll be. Touring it makes for an excellent day trip.
Pyramid Lake – This strange little lake is hidden away in the desert and makes for an awesome oasis of fun times. The geography’s pretty cool, too!
What are some of the best vacation destinations in Nevada?
Of course, the list of awesome destinations in Nevada doesn’t begin – or end – with the above shortlist. There are so many more options that we can’t really name them all here, but a few more awesome vacation destinations in Nevada include:
The Ruby Mountains – There is indeed a such thing as “up in the mountains” around here, and the Ruby Mountains are wonderful.
Lake Tahoe – Perhaps this one is obvious, but it’s too jaw-dropping not to mention. With gorgeous blue water that goes on forever, this is one of America’s most beautiful lakes.
Valley of Fire State Park – ALL of our state parks are awesome, but this one in particular is likely to blow you away. It’s so unique!
You’ll need somewhere to sleep while you’re here, right? Luckily, there are all sorts of fun places to stay and play in Nevada. Among our favorite places to stay in NV are places such as:
The Tahoe House Hotel – This old place was built in the mid-1800s and is perfect for anyone who loves old-school, historic hotels.
Prospector Hotel and Gambling Hall – Experience the wild, wild west at this old hotel in Ely, complete with a casino.
Edgewood Tahoe Resort – This amazing, all-awesome-things-included resort makes for both an amazing place to stay AND the perfect getaway.
