Nebraska is home to so many fantastic restaurants that there’s something for pretty much everyone to love. Among the quirkiest is Wave Pizza Company and Banzai Beach Club in Grand Island – where else will you find a shark jumping out at you as you stand on the sidewalk?
It's obvious that Wave Pizza Company is a fun place even before you step inside. The giant shark above the door along with the surf-themed exterior gives a little taste of what awaits inside.
The beach party only gets better once you walk through the doors. You'll almost forget you're in central Nebraska and not on the coast when you're surrounded by ocean objects, tiki umbrellas, and surf decor.
Don't expect a swanky dining experience when you walk in; this funky, family-friendly restaurant is definitely more fun than fancy. But true-blue customers love the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that there are fun touches like surfboards and a VW microbus right there in the dining area.
And the food, of course, is unforgettable. The pizzas come in Boogie Board or Long Board sizes, and everything is smothered in cheese...delicious, delicious cheese.
There are some pretty creative topping combinations as well as all of your old standby favorites. They also have sandwiches if, for some odd reason, pizza isn't your thing. A wide selection of beers complements the rich cheesy meals perfectly.
This restaurant is definitely a little crazy, and it's unlike anything else you'll find in Nebraska. It comes with the highest recommendations from Grand Island locals as well as people who grab a meal there when they pass through.
