Maybe in some other states the only places to get terrific food are in the big cities, but here in Nebraska we’re all about the small-town joints. This place is certainly not as far off the beaten path as a lot of the other amazing small-town restaurants in the state, but there’s something very special about it. Have you made the trip yet?
Little Stanton, Nebraska is located just about 15 minutes outside of Norfolk. With a population of just a smidge above 1500, this town has heaps of the small-town charm we love.
There are, surprisingly, several dining options in this little town. They all have their strengths and their fans, but Uptown Brewery has a couple of claims to fame that draw customers in from many miles around.
First off, you might recognize the interior from the movie Nebraska. Several scenes were filmed here, and one of the restaurant's actual waitresses appeared as a waitress in the movie.
The restaurant's other - and well-deserved - big draw is its food. The menu is much larger and more diverse than you would expect to find in most small-town eateries.
There are also some things on the menu here that you might not expect to find. The restaurant's owners source organic, natural foods and prepare them with care and creativity.
The prime rib at the Uptown is said to be the best in the area, and you'll hear no arguments here. It's so tender that you probably won't even need your knife, and so perfectly seasoned that it may just ruin you for all other prime rib.
No matter what you order, you'll be able to taste the high quality and tender care that go into every little thing at the Uptown. The owners are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, and they're rarely too busy to stop and have a chat, even if you're a stranger.
Don't forget to order a beer to wash down your delicious meal; there are beers on tap here that you'll have a hard time finding in any other small town. And head over to the wine store that's connected to the restaurant to take home a bottle of vino for later.
The prime rib might be the primary draw for a lot of patrons, but we recommend visiting several times (or at least bringing a lot of people with you and sharing) so you can taste all of the delicious menu choices.
