Hitting the open road to explore our beautiful state is one of life’s simplest pleasures, in my opinion. In 2016 we laid out several road trips to help you see more of Nebraska. In case you haven’t had the chance to take them all yet, here they are in one convenient place. String them all together and see Nebraska like never before. The links to each original road trip, including the interactive maps, are included below.
This trip takes you through some of the most stunning places in Western and Central Nebraska, including waterfalls, buttes, and wild places. (Note that Snake River Falls is listed as a destination, but as of now it is no longer accessible to the public.)
Our second natural wonders road trip focuses mostly on the eastern part of the state. See Indian Cave State Park, the saline wetlands, restored prairie land, and so much more.
A huge road trip that covers a great deal of the state, this journey will take you to some of the most beautiful, spooky, and mysterious ghost towns in Nebraska.
Nebraska has so many reportedly haunted places that we had to split up our haunted places road trip into three parts. Part 1 starts out in Eastern Nebraska with some of the oldest places in the state.
Continuing on our spooky tour of Nebraska's most haunted spots, this trip takes us to two haunted hotels, two historic theaters, and many more creepy spots. (Note that the Norfolk Regional Center is listed as a destination, but the main building has been demolished since the original road trip was published.)
Taking our haunted journey across the state into the Panhandle, part 3 covers some abandoned military forts, a little-known battlefield, a gorgeous old theater, and several more spooky spots.
If the previous three-part haunted road trip is just a little too much driving for you, this is a condensed version of some of our favorite spooky Nebraska spots.
Getting out on the road to see new things (or revisit familiar places) in Nebraska sounds like a pretty great plan for 2017, doesn’t it? Be sure to share your pictures with us when you take these trips!
