In the midst of the exceptionally beautiful Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City is the Lied Lodge and Conference Center. The building itself is an absolute marvel, featuring Adirondack styling, dramatic lighting, and exposed beams throughout. The lodge’s main restaurant, the Timber Dining Room, is arguably one of the most impressive parts of the facility.
Located right on Arbor Day Farm, the Lied Lodge and Conference Center was meant to serve as a home base and meeting space for the Arbor Day Foundation and other conservation-minded organizations.
...which is a pretty good way to describe the entire facility. Rich woodwork makes the place feel warm and cozy while the high ceilings and exposed beams add a dramatic flair.
The Timber Dining Room is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for guests and non-guests. As you walk through the building's main doors toward the restaurant, you'll be greeted with the delicious smells of the restaurant's varied offerings.
The room is styled to echo the flawless natural beauty located just outside. Lovely wood, elegant stone, and little botanical touches everywhere call to mind the impressive farm on which the lodge sits.
The patio features impressive views of the hazelnut tree grove along with other types of lush trees on the farm grounds. Sunsets out here are completely breathtaking.
And of course, the food is excellent. Sunday brunch is especially popular, and the burgers are a perennial favorite, but I've never had a bad meal here. Ingredients are sustainably and locally sourced whenever possible.
The view really shines in the summer and fall. And the winter when it's snowy. And in the spring when leaf buds are forming. Ok, there's really no way to choose the prettiest time of year because they're all the best.
