Where’s your regular weekend night hangout spot? Do you head down to the corner bar for a beer, or maybe linger in your favorite restaurant over glasses of wine? Shake up the routine a bit with a visit to this dreamy tiki bar that will let you escape to the tropics for a little while.
The next time you're in the Old Market in Omaha, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this unique underground bar.
When you enter Laka Lono Rum Club, it's like stepping into another world. The atmosphere is upbeat but relaxed, encouraging visitors to let loose and just enjoy the moment.
This popular rum club is an excellent example of tiki culture, which was born in California in the 1930s. Tiki is all about a state of mind; it lets you leave the regular world behind and escape to a fantasy world for a while.
The bar is equal parts exciting and relaxing. You'll marvel over the selection of cocktails, which contains exclusive creations as well as the old standards. Then you'll slide into a booth, hop onto a barstool, or sink into one of these fabulous hanging chairs to enjoy a magical experience.
One of the club's specialties is the Baby Yoda drink. The adorable character is recreated in the cutest little cocktail you've ever seen. It's a tropical fruity drink with cherries for eyes, lime slices for ears, and a white napkin "robe."
The ingenuity doesn't end with little Yoda. You'll find a whole bunch of unusual and impressive libations. And if you order something that doesn't live up to your expectations, just let your server know; they'll be happy to replace it with something you do like.
Bring a group of friends and you can enjoy one of the unforgettable group drinks. This one is called Aphrodite on the Half Shell and serves 2-3 people. If you fall in love with the shell-shaped bowl, you can buy it!
Go all out and spring for this masterpiece of a group drink: Dream of the Fisherman's Wife. You can't buy this bowl, but you and 9-10 friends can enjoy a bold, fruity, unforgettable drink unlike anything you've ever tried.
