If you think you know everything about Nebraska, think again! The Toadstool Trail will show you a side of this amazing state that you may not have seen before. This geologic park is a true wonder, and deserves to be explored. Head on out to Toadstool Geological Park and Campground in the Oglala National Grassland area for a hike you won’t forget!

Head on over to Crawford, Nebraska for a hike on a trail that will show you a new side to your favorite state. This geological park is home to rock formations, many in the form of toadstools.
The Toadstool Trail brings you through some of the best examples of these unusual rock formations.
The entire trail is a big loop, allowing you to circle through this cool area. It’s very flat, and the total elevation gain is only 42 feet.
You’ll find important fossils all along the trail while you hike.
Please leave them where you found them! They are an important geological aspect to the area, and provide a wonderful look at the animal and plant life past for everyone who uses the trail.
This is a very easy trail to complete, and it's only .8 miles total in length.
You’ll see interpretive signs throughout your hike, letting you know more about the natural history of the area. The grassland area has a rich and interesting past to learn about.
There are many more trails in this area to hike if you’re interested in exploring further.
Make sure you bring plenty of bug spray, as the mosquitoes in the area can be rough after a rainfall. The clay can be slippery to hike when wet, so bring good sturdy shoes.
Day use fees for this area are $3.00 per day.
You can camp in their campground for $15.00 per night, from May 1st through mid-November. Spend a couple of days in the area exploring and soaking up the surroundings!
