There’s adventure to be found all throughout Nebraska, no matter what your favorite activities are. There’s one place where you can have endless fun and try out all kinds of new things – and the whole family is going to want to visit again and again.
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is located in Ashland, between Lincoln and Omaha. It's a gem of a destination that's so full of fun you'll never want to leave.
The park has been a beloved family destination since 1991. Through the years it's undergone tons of upgrades and additions, and today it's the jewel of the Nebraska Parks System.
Classic activities include camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, paddle boating, and watching performances in the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theater. Seasonal trail rides let you admire the park from horseback, no matter what your riding skill level is.
Golf, mini-golf, and disc golf are all popular with visitors, and they're a terrific way to enjoy the park while being as active or laid-back as you want.
In 2018, the park welcomed huge upgrades that have added even more ways to have fun with the whole family. An indoor climbing wall and alpine slide are just the beginning of Mahoney's new activities.
Even the park's restaurant has gotten a major makeover recently. It's gone from a bland cafeteria-style place to a swanky-looking restaurant serving award-winning food. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal before, during, or after your park adventure.
Mahoney State Park is rich with unforgettable attractions and experiences, many of which are open all year round. You’ll need a Nebraska parks permit to enter, and there is a fee for some activities. Read more about this very special park on the Nebraska Game and Parks site or the park’s Facebook page.
There’s a lot to do in Ashland, like this aerospace museum that is as educational as it is entertaining.
