When people think of wine country, they often think of California, but Nebraska wineries actually grow some really amazing grapes and produce some award-winning wines. Here’s a winery that not only produces incredible wines, but is also situated on the most beautiful vineyard.

Soaring Wings Vineyard has been owned and operated by the Shaw family since 2001, when they planted the first grapevines. They opened their doors in 2004 and have been offering great wines ever since.

The vineyard here produces several varieties of grapes.

70% of the grapes used in the wine produced here are grown right onsite; the other 30% are purchased from other nearby Nebraska vineyards.
Soaring Wings produces 20 varieties of wine.

From dry to sweet, you'll certainly find something to tempt your palate. The vineyard has garnered more than 200 awards over the years.

The winery is open Wednesday through Saturday from Noon to 6 PM; Sunday from Noon to 5 PM. Tastings include a flight of five different wines and a souvenir glass for just $6.

Wine by the glass is just $5, or you can purchase a bottle. Enjoy some cheese, crackers, bread, chocolate or other snacks, too. You can even pack your own picnic to enjoy here if you'd like.

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy some live music every Friday evening from 6 PM to 9:30 PM. There's just a $5 cover charge.
The vineyard also hosts an annual Italian Dinner.

The three-course meal has a wine pairing for every course, and is one of the highlights of the year. This year's Italian Dinner will be held on April 7th from 7 PM to 9:30 PM and costs $30 per person. Call 402-253-2479 to make your reservation.
Another popular event is the annual Wine, Blues, Beer & Hot Air Balloon Festival.
