There are destinations all around the Cornhusker State that come alive with vibrant reds and yellows when autumn arrives. From state parks to the middles of our cities, there are some truly remarkable places to spend a fall day. However, many of these areas are well-known and can draw in quite a crowd during this time of the year. That’s why I love a little-known scenic spot in Nebraska where you can find solitude, get a little fresh air, and admire the fall foliage. I’m talking about the Buffalo Run Trail.
Keep in mind that because this trail is in Ponco State Park, there is a small day-use fee. It is also wise to download a trail map to ensure you stay on the path and don’t become lost. AllTrails+ is a great resource for offline maps. Of course, before you head on your journey, also check out our ultimate hiking packing list, featuring 75 must-have hiking accessories.
