Out of the eight state parks that Nebraska has, the Platte River State Park is one of the most beautiful. It’s a calm, quiet, oasis that’s stunning to visit all year round. With a river, waterfalls, beautiful lush foliage, and wildlife around you, this is a wonderful place to take a breather and relax.
When life feels busy or hectic, it’s important to get out in nature and slow down a bit.
The green forest and bubbling river in Platte River State Park offers an oasis to visit. Spend your time walking among the trees or playing in the river.
There are waterfalls around the area that kids love to play in.
There’s actually miles of biking and hiking trails for you to explore. The most popular is the Platte River State Park Trail Loop.
It’s an easy trail that brings you through the park and shows off some of its best features.
Don’t be surprised if you spot a deer or two, as the area is quiet enough to embolden them. The trail is well maintained and easy to walk.
The whole loop is 6.7 miles long.
You’ll see all sorts of sights as the trail brings you through the Nebraska countryside. The trail can get busy, so if you want more peace and quiet it may be better to start the hike early in the morning.
The most popular natural feature to view in this state park is the waterfalls.
They’re gentle and not too tall, and the water feels refreshing if you hop in. It’s a lovely way to spend a hot summer afternoon.
To visit, you’ll need a Nebraska State Park permit, which runs $30.00 for a full year. If you'd rather only pay for the day, you can pick up a day pass at the park.
There are state of the art hookups if you would like to camp in this beautiful state park. There’s also a teepee you can spend the evening in! Or you could rent one of their charming cabins.
The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Some of the park's features are only open from Memorial Day weekend through mid-August.
Whether you go for a day or spend the whole weekend, you need to explore this beautiful state park! Put it right at the top of your summer bucket list.
