This little restaurant earned a special feature not because of its food (although that's good, too), but because of its unique decor. Ole's is legendary as the restaurant with all the stuffed animals...and not the cuddly, adorable kind. There are more than 200 stuffed animal trophies all throughout the restaurant - everything from a little red fox to an entire polar bear. The exact opposite of the previous restaurant is Modern Love, Nebraska's only completely vegan restaurant. The food is nothing like some meat-lovers might expect; it's hearty, filling, and absolutely delicious. Read more here.
Never heard of Virginia, Nebraska? You aren't alone. But if you take the time to find it, be sure to stop by Terry's Steakhouse. Their prime rib was voted the best in Gage County in 2016, so this is one experience you don't want to miss. Read more here.
This sweet little building at the edge of Alma was once an actual train station, so the name is fitting. It's now a great small-town place to get great food and see live music performances - and they've even retained the railroad theme with railroad-inspired decor. Read more here.
This unique farm-to-table restaurant is close to Lincoln, but when you get there it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Lakehouse Farm supplies all of the organic produce used at the restaurant, which is only open from April through New Year's Day. The food is worth the wait. Read more here.
Located inside the beautiful Lied Lodge, this eatery serves both guests and non-guests. The view from the terrace is enchanting, and the food is unforgettable. But the dining room itself, with towering wooden beams and a botanical theme, is a seriously beautiful place to enjoy a meal. Read more here.
You won't need a secret password to get in, but it's no exaggeration to say that you'll be amazed by the food. You wouldn't expect this little place in the middle of nowhere to serve up much more than greasy burgers and fries, but The Speakeasy is run by a talented chef and the menu is full of creative, gourmet meals.
