Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Nebraska is a land of many uses, many facets, and many wonders. Camping is one of our favorite pastimes, and can you blame us? For example, take a look at one of the best campgrounds in Nebraska – one that’s a favorite among locals and way too often overlooked by visitors. It’s the campground at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, and it’s a delight and a half – check it out!
Welcome to Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, a place where the heaven and the earth meet and intermingle.
It is outrageously beautiful and totally unlike any other place in the Great Plains. There's so much to do around here that you could probably live here forever and never get bored.
Unfortunately, you can only stay for 14 consecutive days... but you can always come back.
One of my favorite parks of the whole park is the Go Ape Rope Course, which keeps everything interesting day in and day out. Test your endurance and have a blast figuring out these fun rope courses high in the trees. Treehouse shenanigans, anyone? Count me in.
Not only are there RV, electric, and primitive campsites available - there's also modern cabins and lodges rooms available for reservation. I strongly advice booking in advance for all, though, as sites tend to fill up fast, especially in the summer and autumn months.
There's also a lookout tower, a gift shop, horseback riding aplenty, a driving range, a comfort station, and SO much more. When I say "amenities galore", I mean GALORE.
Another fun thing to look forward to about camping here is that it's nature at its most wondrous.
Between the vibrant array of wildlife that calls this region home and the infinitely starry skies at night, this is one outdoor experience in Nebraska you won't want to overlook.
And don't forget about the marina - in case the place wasn't awesome enough.
I think the fun might just go on forever while you're here... like some kind of natural time capsule where everything's a little slower and a lot lower-key.
