There are some pretty well-known recreated pioneer villages and historic towns in Nebraska. One of the most beloved is the 1890s Railroad Town at Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer in Grand Island. The town offers education and entertainment all year round, but it becomes something totally magical at Christmas.
Christmas Past and Present is the museum's signature event, and one that visitors look forward to all year.
You can learn to make pioneer-era Christmas tree decorations, create your own wooden car (for a small charge), or watch the blacksmith make something special.
The spirit of Christmas is alive and well here and seems to transcend time. Past and present meet and mingle, giving visitors a unique and unforgettable experience.
This year, visitors can enjoy the festivities December 2 (members only night), 3, 9, 10, and 11. Admission is free with your museum membership or $7 for ages 3 and up. For more information, including a live music schedule, visit the museum’s website.
