If you’re a pizza lover, and especially if you’re a pizza lover who’s bored of plain-Jane restaurants, you’re going to love this place. Mellow Mushroom is a chain with locations in many states, but each one is distinctively decorated. The one in Lincoln is an absolute can’t-miss for anyone who enjoys a good pizza pie.
Head to the Haymarket district in Lincoln for some of the best pizza and most remarkable atmosphere in town. It's just steps away from the Pinnacle Bank Arena, so when you come out after a game or concert you won't even have to move your car to grab some dinner.
You'll know that this place is a little different even before you go in. From the mushroom cutouts on the overhang to the lanky mascot out front, Mellow Mushroom is so full of character that it's spilling out into the street.
...And this perpetually-flying basketball. They're references, of course, to the fact that you're in the home of Huskers football and Nebraska basketball.
After you're done marveling at the decor, get busy reading that menu. You'll likely have a hard time choosing from all of the tasty selections! Start with an appetizer like bruschetta, a hummus plate, or the restaurant's signature pretzels.
If you plan to eat lightly, check out the salad selection. You can choose one of the menu standards or even create your own from a hearty list of ingredients.
In the mood for a sandwich instead of pizza? No problem - there are lots of savory selections to choose from, including clubs, wraps, and hoagies. Is a calzone a sandwich? If so, add those to your list of must-try sammies.
But don't think we've forgotten you, pizza purists. Peruse the menu for specialty pies with fun names like Holy Shiitake, Kosmic Karma, and Funky Q Chicken. These are the fan favorites that keep dedicated pizza lovers coming back for more again and again.
