The tiny village of Madrid in southwestern Nebraska is located at least 30 minutes from any major cities. In most towns of this size, that would mean at least a 30-minute drive to get to a store for necessities. In this little town – population 231 – the residents are lucky enough to have their very own general store.
The Madrid General Store is located at 302 S Perkins Avenue in Madrid. It’s open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fresh baked goods are available on Thursdays. Check out the store’s Facebook page for more information.
While you’re in the area, check out the village of Sutherland. It’s not too far from Madrid, and it’s the perfect place to relax.
