Although Nebraska is a beef state, we’re also big fans of fried chicken. This classic meal brings to mind Sunday dinners with the whole family. You can get that taste of home at Jack & Mary’s Restaurant, an Omaha eatery where the fried chicken has repeatedly won the title of Omaha’s Best Fried Chicken.
Jack & Mary's Restaurant is a longtime locally-owned restaurant that's been serving some of the most delicious fried chicken in Nebraska since 1975.
It's something of a hidden gem, tucked down in the Miracle Hills Square strip mall. But people in the know make their way there to taste the fried chicken that has been repeatedly voted the best in Omaha.
The lively but homey dining room combines the best elements of a cozy family dinner and a social evening out on the town. The casual atmosphere makes everyone who walks through those doors feel welcome.
A full bar awaits you if you'd like to indulge in a cocktail, beer, or wine with your meal. You may just spy some regulars chatting and enjoying a drink together.
When it comes to the menu, the hands-down favorite item is the fried chicken. It comes in a dizzying array of varieties and combinations, so whether you're a fan of white meat, dark meat, drumsticks, wings, or gizzards, you're going to get just what you want.
If you're dining in, you can take a trip or two (or 10?) up to the all-you-can-eat salad bar. You can also get a meal-size salad made fresh just for you, including this Cobb salad that looks absolutely delicious.
There's comfort food galore on this menu. Thick chicken and noodles served over a pile of fresh mashed potatoes is one of the most comforting comfort food we can think of, and it's done especially well here.
You won't find better onion rings in Omaha - maybe in all of Nebraska. Like everything else at this family-owned restaurant, they're made by hand, from scratch. Get a half order for yourself or a full order...also just for yourself. They're that good.
Jack & Mary's isn't all about the chicken. There are also tasty meals including steak, prime rib (when available), catfish, and fried shrimp. Some of the items even come in combos so you don't have to choose between your favorites.
Want something a little different? Jack & Mary's also serves breakfast all day long. When you go, be sure to try the biscuits and gravy. It rivals Grandma's recipe.
Visit Jack & Mary’s website or Facebook page for more information on specials or to look at the menu.
