If we’re being honest, we’re not big fans of waiting for food. When we get a craving, we’re pretty impatient. But there are a few places with food so amazing that it’s totally worth waiting for. This classic ice cream parlor in the Panhandle is one place where we’ll stand in line all day just to get a scoop of our favorite flavor.
Platte Valley Creamery has been serving outstanding homemade ice cream in Scottsbluff since 1932.
It's a staple of the western Nebraska city; if you grew up around here, chances are you grew up enjoying this handmade frozen delight whenever you could convince your parents to take you.
While you wait, gaze around at the nostalgic decorations on the walls. Visiting here is kind of like stepping back in time, particularly if you ate here decades ago when you were a kid.
The prices are reasonable, as you'd probably expect from a small, family-owned shop. All of the ice cream and sherbet is made right here in the store from tried-and-true recipes, so you can be sure that you're getting the most value for your dollar.
If you're patient and wait until you get up to the counter, you'll be rewarded with some of the creamiest, most flavorful ice cream you've ever tasted. It's the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day. Everyone has their favorite flavor (the champagne is super popular), but don't forget to try a new one once in a while!
