Nebraska is such a big place that there are bound to be lots of little-known hidden gems – those places that you only know about if you happen to live nearby. The Horn T Zoo near Monroe in Platte County is a sweet little place that, unless you’ve seen it yourself, you’ve probably never heard of.
Just west of Monroe on Highway 22, the little zoo sits on a 40-acre ranch.
Horn T has a USDA animal exhibitor permit, so you can be assured the animals are well cared for. Not that you'll have any question - this place is clean and the animals are obviously doted on by their caretakers.
The zoo is open summers only on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's always best to check with the zoo before you head out to be sure it's open.
