There are some extraordinary trails in Nebraska. Some of these trails take you to gorgeous scenery, and others take you to fascinating destinations. The Kenefick Park Trail in Omaha is one that is perfect for a short adventure with the entire family in tow. You’ll walk next to historic locomotives and enjoy breathtaking views in the midst of the city. It’s a trek that is short and sweet but absolutely fascinating.
Kenefick Park is actually located in the southwest corner of the Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha. This park is known for one thing - the incredible trains.
Centennial No. 6900 is one of the largest and most powerful diesel-electric locomotives ever built, and Big Boy No. 4023 is the world’s largest steam locomotive.

During a visit to this park, you can admire the massive locomotives and read all of the signs along your way. But I recommend you also spend some time walking along the Kenefick Park Trail.
This is not a journey where you need to lace up hiking boots - rather it is a delightful stroll that takes you around the park, ensuring you see everything that this incredible destination has to offer.
Seriously, the views are breathtaking. You won’t want to forget a camera. There are also benches where you can rest and enjoy the scenery surrounding you. The path may be short and easy, but it’s certainly going to leave an impression.
And, of course, after you have explored Kenefick Park, head over to Lauritzen Gardens, which is almost like something out of a fairy tale.
Have you spent time at Kenefick Park? Have you followed the path in its entirety? Let us know in the comments. You can visit AllTrails for more information on the Kenefick Park Trail, and then check out the Lauritzen Gardens official website.
The Kenefick Park Trail is an excellent stop on a road trip in Nebraska. In fact, I recommend checking out this trail each time you visit Omaha. Just don’t forget the car-friendly snacks for your adventure!
