While wintertime is typically full of indoor revelry, cozy places, and maybe a little ice skating, this year is understandably a little different. But that doesn’t mean that we’ll be at a loss for fun things to do! Bring your social bubble to these socially-distant bubbles for a little out-of-the-box entertainment.
The Capitol District is a mixed-use area just outside of Omaha's Old Market. Featuring bars, restaurants, offices, apartments, and an open-air town square, the Capitol District is a destination for residents and visitors alike.
This year, the Capitol District courtyard will look a little different than it has in previous winters. Instead of the typical ice skating rink, the courtyard is hosting eight private igloos.
The plastic bubbles offer a socially-distant way to get out and enjoy a meal with less Covid-19 risk than dining in a traditional restaurant dining room.
Each igloo comes with several chairs, a small heater, and some blankets. Everything is cleaned and disinfected between parties to cut down on the risk of coronavirus transmission.
Outside food isn't allowed, but the town square is surrounded by some truly great restaurants. Order a meal from one of them (be sure to ask about their "igloo specials") and bring it back to your cozy bubble to eat.
Occupancy of each igloo is limited to six people in accordance with CDC guidelines. To review all of the COVID precautions that the Capitol District is taking, follow this link.
Find out more about this fabulously fun igloos and book your very own igloo time on the Capitol District website – or follow along on Facebook for specials and other news.
