If you’re longing for a taste of the islands but don’t want the hefty price tag, just head to this little restaurant in Bellevue. It’s serving up some of the best authentic Hawaiian and Filipino cuisine you’ll find on the mainland, and it’s close enough to visit as often as you please.
Located in a small storefront at the corner of Mission Ave and Madison St, Ono Pinay Kitchen officially opened in January of 2019.
The owners have been serving their delicious offerings for far longer than that, though. They started out selling Hawaiian and Filipino treats at the Bellevue and Papillion farmers markets in 2016.
After building a loyal following, the restaurant opened to great reviews. There's nothing else like it in the area, and people who know say this food is the real deal.
The menu is curated, so the kitchen focuses on a small number of dishes that they do exceptionally well rather than a huge number of meals that are just so-so.
Many of the offerings are served for a limited time, like these curry buns that were only available for one day. Others, like the sweet bread, are menu staples and fan favorites.
The innovative restaurant offers events like special brunches, and in March they hosted a lumpia wrapping lesson for folks who were interested in learning to make this savory Filipino treat.
