If You Haven’t Eaten These 10 Foods, You Haven’t Lived In Nebraska Long Enough
We sure do love great food here in Nebraska – some foods more than others. There are some foods that are just so beloved and so readily available that it’s almost impossible to avoid them. If you’ve lived here for a while, you will have eaten all of these at least a few times.

We ARE the Cornhusker State, after all. One of the greatest things about summer in Nebraska is the abundance of fresh, local corn. We've even got corn-shucking stations at the grocery store, and you won't find that everywhere.

This is pretty obvious - beef is an important part of Nebraska's economy, and we know our steak. But don't settle for just any old thing from the supermarket; be sure you're getting real Nebraska beef from a local butcher.

This is the official fast food of Nebraska (according to us, anyway), and it's an essential Nebraska dining experience. The flaky dough pocket stuffed with beef, cabbage, onions, and maybe even cheese is one of the most unique and satisfying dishes you'll ever get from a drive-through.

Legend has it that this tasty creation was invented right here in Nebraska. Whether that's true or not, this is probably the most delicious crazy idea ever. Don't forget to try its equally crazy south-of-the-border cousin, the taco pizza!

This incredible sandwich was dreamed up in Omaha decades ago, and it's since then spread all across the country. Some other states lay claim to its invention, but we can assure you that this delectable treat is Nebraskan through and through.

Everyone else can keep their bland French dressing. This stuff may look similar, but it's totally different and way better. It's tangy, sweet, and spicy all at once, and it's still made right here in Nebraska after all this time.

Yep, this is another Nebraska invention, and it's unlike anything you've ever eaten. It may look like a breaded, fried grilled cheese sandwich, but it's way more than the sum of its parts. It's crispy deliciousness that you'll never stop craving once you try it.

Speaking of trying things, someone may have had to talk you (or trick you) into eating these the first time. Whether you loved them or were so grossed out that you never ate them again after finding out what they really are, chances are pretty good that you've at least tried them.

We can't quite claim to have invented prime rib, but we definitely perfected it. Some restaurants specialize in crafting this slow-roasted, melt-in-your-mouth meat treat, and you can smell it before you even get to the door. But you can make it at home, too, and stuff yourself with no shame.

There's nothing better in summer than biting into a tomato or cucumber that was picked so recently it's still warm from the sun. We love zucchini and rhubarb so much that we've even come up with some pretty creative (and sometimes weird) ways to cook and bake them.
