Just outside of Waverly, a charming little town of just over 3,000 people, sits a unique farm that features a restaurant unlike any other. It takes farm-to-table to a whole new level, and you’ll want to sample everything on the menu.
Prairie Plate Restaurant is located on the grounds of the 40-acre Lakehouse Farm.
The farm grows many varieties of organic crops, from tomatoes to spinach to beets. This wholesome produce goes straight to the restaurant, where it's put to use in delicious fresh dishes.
Everything that can be homemade here is. Whatever isn't grown directly on the farm is produced elsewhere in Nebraska. The farm-to-table concept reaches new heights here as the owners take great care in how and where they source their ingredients.
Every visit to the restaurant is different thanks to the rotating seasonal menu. The selections you'll find on the menu reflect what's in season or has been recently harvested.
Dining at Prairie Plate is a seasonal treat, as they are only open from April through New Year's Eve. You'll have to travel a long gravel road to get there, which makes this lovely restaurant feel delightfully remote and peaceful.
The views and the food at this charming farmhouse restaurant are well worth a visit. Make the trip to Lakehouse Farm and Prairie Plate Restaurant at 10405 Branched Oak Rd, Waverly, NE 68462. Get more info on the menu and specials on the restaurant’s website or Facebook page.
