Nebraska’s little towns turn into lovely holiday wonderlands every year around this time. There’s one in particular that boasts one of the most charming Christmas festivals you’ll ever attend. It’s coming up this weekend – are you going?
Historic Ashland, in Saunders County, is an adorable little town of just under 2,500 people. It's incredibly picturesque all year long, but this time of year it looks a lot like a scene from a Christmas card.
The city really goes all out with the decorations. It will remind you just why Ashland has repeatedly been named one of the most beautiful, livable towns in the state.
Central to the holiday celebrations is the incomparable Hometown Christmas festival. The whole town - plus plenty of people from other towns - turn out for this delightful party full of holiday cheer.
Fire pits with s'mores making (with supplies provided for free by local businesses), a gingerbread house display, and the highlight of the festival, the Parade of Lights.
