The Easy 1-Mile Winter Hike In Nebraska That's Positively Bewitching
Thanksgiving and Christmas have come and gone again, and now is the time to get our things in order for a brand new year. Every New Year’s Day, six of the Nebraska State Parks host wintery hikes to ring in the new year. These First Day Hikes vary in length, difficulty, and setting, but we think that one of the most impressive is the Steamboat Loop Trail at Chadron State Park.
Although the trail is rated easy-moderate, it may be difficult for those pushing strollers. Leashed dogs are welcome. Be sure to dress for the weather and be prepared for possible slippery or icy ground.
The group will meet at the shelter on January 1st, 2017 at 1:00 pm. There is no fee to attend the hike, but you do have to have a parks permit to get into the park. More information about the hike is here, and information about other state park First Day Hikes can be found on their calendar here.
