The drive-in restaurant was a staple in every small town in previous decades. Today we tend to favor more modern eateries, but there are plenty of the old-school holdouts (and recent newcomers) still delighting hungry customers across the state. We aren’t talking about Sonic – we’re talking about good, old-fashioned, locally-owned Nebraska restaurants.
This favorite stop in Gordon has been a must-visit for ages. Their shakes and other ice cream treats are worth the wait you'll encounter at the busy times of day.
Dub is one of those old-fashioned places that people just find themselves drawn to over and over. They've got a pretty extensive menu for such a small place, including surprises like mini tacos.
Fizzy's is a '50s throwback with amazing food and an absolutely darling aesthetic. Eat inside, pick up at the window, or even have your food delivered to you.
A visit to the Frosty Drive-In is a must whenever you're in Valentine. Real car hops still bring the food out to your car, just like in the glory days of the drive in!
This little family-owned restaurant does not disappoint when you're looking for something quick, satisfying, and - yes - a little greasy. Just look at those delicious frenchees!
An absolute institution in McCook, Mac's has been around and serving mouthwatering goodness forever. Stay in your car to order or go inside and use the ordering phones at the tables.
For those who have been coming here for years, Scotty's is almost as satisfying as coming home for a meal at Mom and Dad's house. It was once drive-in only, but they now have indoor seating as well.
Don't let the diminutive size of Staab's fool you - the food here is delectable. From homestyle fried chicken to some of the best ice cream around, folks keep coming back for more.
This little shop is almost too adorable for words. They serve ice cream that's to die for, but they've also got a robust menu of drive-in standards like burgers and chicken strips. They recently added a bakery side to the business as well.
The fried chicken at Terry's is an absolute can't-miss. But there are plenty of other menu options as well. Try a chocolate malt and some curly fries for a special treat.

The drive-in restaurant model has been updated for modern customers, but if anything has stayed the same, it’s the down-home cooking and friendly atmosphere. We love pulling up to any of these places and knowing we’re in for a great treat.
