Do you love a good bargain? If so, you probably frequent the Goodwill stores around Nebraska, searching for treasures on the racks. You can often find clothing with the original tags on it, housewares and other items that are like new, and all kinds of fun vintage finds.
Have you ever wondered what happens to the merchandise at Goodwill that doesn’t sell? You’re about to find out!
Items that are donated at a Goodwill retail store are carefully sorted, tagged, and placed on racks, much like any retail clothing store. But when items don't sell after several weeks, Goodwill starts to run out of space, so those items are sent on to the organization's outlet stores.
Clothing is so lightweight, that when you buy it by the pound you can find some real bargains. Imagine digging up a pretty shirt, only to find that it costs just 20 cents!
Of course, these exceptional bargains require a little bit of work. The merchandise isn't sorted and displayed like it is in the retail stores; you literally have to dig through these bins to see what's there.
You never know what you might find! Some people shop for their own personal use; other people shop to find items to list for resale on eBay and other sites.
...and you might even find some vintage treasures! Most items are sold by the pound, but a few select categories are priced. Don't worry - everything is priced so low that you'll definitely be happy when you get to the register.
Once you've found all of your treasures for the day, head to the front of the store, where they'll weigh everything. The more you buy, the less you pay per pound!
