Is there any food more universally loved than chocolate? We use it as a mood booster, a declaration of love, a tasty consolation after a rough day. One long-running festival in Lincoln celebrates this delicacy in grand style. The 2018 event has already happened, but read on to learn more about the festival and get ready for next year’s.
Chocolate Lover's Fantasy just completed its 32nd annual event. The celebration of all things chocolate is one of Lincoln's favorite festivals.
Chefs and chocolate enthusiasts come out for one night to display and devour chocolate creations, respectively. Local businesses show up in force to present their best chocolate treats.
Every year, the participants are judged on their food offerings as well as their presentation. This is 2018's winning table design, presented by Lazlo's Brewery & Grill. Chocolate Monopoly sounds like pretty much the perfect board game.
But, of course, the chocolate in this "fantasy" isn't just for looking at. There are all kinds of delicious offerings you can sample. From chocolates made by local chocolatiers...
Some of the participants get crazily creative with their offerings - yes, that says chocolate nachos, which I'm pretty sure I've had actual dreams about.
And others stick with the slightly more familiar (but still completely amazing) treats like chocolate-covered bacon. If you're wrinkling your nose right now at the thought of meat and chocolate together, just try it. It tastes like everything that is good in this world.
The event is fun and delicious, but it also represents a worthy cause. The money raised at Chocolate Lover's Fantasy goes toward the nonprofit Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation, a group that promotes the preservation and revitalization of Lincoln's historic Haymarket district. See? You can feel good about eating chocolate.
The 2018 Chocolate Lover’s Fantasy was held on February 9th at the Embassy Suites Downtown. This long-running celebration will be back next year, with tickets going on sale around Christmastime.
