Small towns are often hiding some of the most unique, memorable businesses (and people!) you’ll ever find in Nebraska. Most folks have never heard of the itty-bitty Sandhills community of Ashby, but there’s a shop there that you’ve simply got to visit.
Ashby is an unincorporated community located in Grant County, just nine miles from Hyannis.
Stop in this wide spot in the road and visit CaLinda's Pot Shop & Art Gallery, a sweet local business that is both exactly what it sounds like and not what you might be thinking.
The only "pot" you'll find in this pot shop is in the form of handmade pottery items crafted by owner Linda Lacey. A seasoned artist, Linda opened the shop in a former diner to share her passion with the community.
...Or some Sandhills-related art - including pottery, paintings, sculptures, and whole lot more - CaLinda's has just what you're looking for. And if you can't find it, just ask. Linda takes special orders and will work with you to make exactly what you want.
This little shop also hosts children's and adult classes in pottery and painting. Everyone is welcome, from novices to experienced artists. It's always a fun time, and you'll almost certainly walk away with some new knowledge or skills.
You can find more than 20 specialty coffee recipes on the menu, all of which are creative and delicious and straight from the imagination of Linda. If you're feeling adventurous, sample a sundae, a soda, or one of Linda's famous "edible cowpies." That's a true Sandhills experience!
Linda also delivers tasty coffees to Hyannis once a week, so if you live nearby you don't even have to make the drive to Ashby! Just place an order in advance and wait for the coffee to come to you.
You can visit CaLinda’s Pot Shop & Art Gallery at 113 Main Street in Ashby; learn more about the store and its wonderful history on its website or Facebook page.
