Nebraska may be best known for our delicious beef, but this restaurant serves an interesting alternative: bison. It’s lower in calories than beef, and this place uses the healthiest type of bison available. It’s a tasty change of pace from your regular burger joint.
Best Bison is an Omaha restaurant offering a novel concept: the only red meat served here is bison. The reason for this specialization is listed in big letters right on the front of the building. Bison has half the calories of beef, and it's absolutely delicious.
The food is a lot like what you'd expect at any burger joint. A variety of savory burgers adorn the menu along with classic fries and sweet potato fries.
There are also some more interesting bison-based selections. There's a reuben made with perfectly seasoned corned bison and house-made Thousand Island dressing.
Bison hot dogs and sausages on New England-style toasted rolls come in a wide variety of flavor combinations. There's one to please just about every palate.
The menu even has some healthier options like salads and soups - all featuring perfectly cooked bison meat, of course. Yes, the prices are a little higher than what you'd pay for beef selections, but fans agree that it's worth it.
Pair your updated-classic meal with a cool, creamy shake. There's no bison in them, of course, but they come in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors.
All of the bison used in Best Bison's food is locally raised without the use of hormones or antibiotics. It has a unique flavor that's similar to beef but is a bit sweeter and more tender. It's a unique treat that every meat lover should try.
