Bison hold a special part of our hearts here in the Great Plains. They were once nearly extinct thanks to overhunting, but today there are healthy herds all across the country. You can visit one of those herds in Valentine, Nebraska, where a special tour will take you out to see the truly majestic creatures up close.
Golden Prairie Bison is a ranch where bison have roamed since the mid-1990s when owners Carl and Vicki Simmons decided to try their hand at something new.
Bison grow not only on the land but with the land. They were once an essential part of the prairie ecosystem, and to see them return is a truly beautiful thing.
