If you’re thinking of moving and you have kids, the quality of schools in your intended new home is probably a major concern. According to ratings compiled by SchoolDigger.com and GreatSchools.org (based on test scores furnished by the NE State Department of Education), these towns have the best schools in the state. (Please note that due to consolidations, some town schools actually teach students from surrounding towns as well. Private schools, schools with fewer than ten students, and towns/districts with fewer than two schools are not included.)
Made up of one elementary school and one middle/high school, Fort Calhoun Community Schools boast both excellent test scores and positive reviews from district parents.
Three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school make up the Gretna Public Schools district. Students at all of the schools perform admirably on state tests.
Potter-Dix Public Schools comes in at #8 of a total of 226 school districts in the state. Its elementary school and junior/senior high school have consistently scored above state average test scores.
Firth's Norris School District includes an elementary school, an intermediate school, a middle school, and a high school, all of which consistently ranked above the state average on NeSA Tests.
Fullerton Public Schools may be small with just one elementary and one middle/high school, but they score very well on state tests and in the opinion of district parents.
Auburn has three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, all of which received high enough ratings to put Auburn Public Schools at #4 in the state.
The Cody-Kilgore Unified School District includes an elementary school in Kilgore and a high school in Cody, both of which perform well on state tests.
With seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, students at Elkhorn Public Schools consistently achieve above-average test scores and high ratings from parents.
