3. A stunning (and unexpected) canyon hike - Chadron
Most people have no idea that a landscape like this exists in Nebraska. Chadron State Park has two main canyons with several trails that are perfect for hiking. This is the perfect answer if you're tired of your regular hiking spots.

4. The highest point in Nebraska - near Kimball
The road that takes you to Panorama Point in the southwestern portion of the Panhandle doesn't look that high. In fact, even the actual highest point in the state doesn't look all that remarkable. It is, however, in a lovely rural spot - you might even see some bison while you're out there.

5. This big flea market that takes place three times a year - Waterloo
Junkstock happens at Sycamore Farms, a lovely 135-acre horse farm out in rural Douglas County. You'll find endless treasures of all kinds at this flea market festival, and you'll certainly want to visit more than once.

Eat Restaurant serves food that walks a fine line between traditional Nebraskan fare and fancy gourmet treats. The building it's in still hangs on to some elements from its previous life, making for a dining experience that's interesting and engaging on all levels.

7. Nebraska's newest state recreation area - near Hubbard
Danish Alps SRA has been an official part of the state parks department since July 2015, making it the newest one in the state. It's an especially ideal place for anglers as the lake is stocked with several types of fish. Enjoy fishing from the shore or a boat, or just enjoy a nice hike or picnic on dry land.
