El Dorado is a little hole-in-the-wall that’s been a fixture in South Omaha’s dining scene for years. It’s the kind of place you may have driven past dozens of times without noticing it. But if you’re a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine and enormous portions, and you’re on the hunt for the best seafood platter in Nebraska, it’s time to take notice.
The family-owned restaurant enjoys prime real estate on the southern edge of South Omaha's 24th Street Historic District. The area is the epicenter of Mexican and Latin American cultures in the city, and one can enjoy an entire day of international experiences within a compact, walkable area.
And if there's one thing you absolutely have to do when you visit this area, it's enjoying a meal at one of the many authentic restaurants that line the streets.
El Dorado is a can't-miss dining destination that will never fail to please, no matter how many times you visit.

The menu welcomes patrons with the standard offerings you'd expect from a Mexican eatery: fajitas, burritos, and tacos galore. But we suggest you save those for some other time because El Dorado has something very special waiting for you.
It's seafood. Heaps and heaps and heaps of seafood. That's El Dorado's specialty, and you can tell how seriously the restaurant takes its commitment to quality.
The below work of culinary art is the Parrillada Cielo, Mar y Tierra (or surf & turf & sky, more or less). It's only served for a minimum of three people, and when you see this immense platter coming toward you, you'll understand why.
If you're thinking of starting your meal off with an appetizer, check out the enormous seafood cocktails. This creation contains shrimp, oysters, octopus, abalones, and scallops.
The chicken or beef taco salad is unlike any other with its ultra-fresh tortilla shell, and the platillo de rey ("king's platter") combines grilled quail, shrimp, and ribeye steak.

What would a Mexican meal be without a couple of margaritas or other frosty-cold libation? We recommend the Hennessy Horchata, a grown-up version of the classic refreshing beverage.
You also have the option to order your meal online and pick it up to go or have it delivered.
Check out El Dorado’s website for a full menu and stay up-to-date on specials and news on El Dorado’s Facebook page. Next time you’re in South Omaha, stop in for the best seafood platter you’ll ever try.
South Omaha isn’t the only part of the city that celebrates its roots. Over in North Downtown, there’s a record-breaking mural that you’ve got to see in person.
